County Sligo is located in the Northwest of the country, bordered by Leitrim to the east and Roscommon and Mayo to the south and west.
The landscape of the county is rich and varied, from majestic mountains to beautiful beaches and lakes. The country inspired the poet W.B.Yeats and also his brother Jack B.Yeats, the artist. The area around Sligo town is known as Yeats Country. The Yeats family spent their summers in Rosses Point and The Sligo museum houses a vast collection of memorabilia from the family. W.B.Yeats is buried at Drumcliff Churchyard, in the shadow of Benbulben Mountain.
Sligo boasts some excellent surfing beaches, including Strandhill, Rosses Point and Enniscrone and there are plenty of Sligo Hotels and Guesthouses to choose from.
